Objectives, functions and powers of the KPRI: –
(a) Conduct research on Kashmir conflict, social-economic development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K), institutional reforms, polices of the Govt. and their impacts, development in regional and international politics and other related issues;
(b) Interaction with think tanks, universities and research institutes and lobbying with public figures, scholars and human right activists;
(c) Organize seminars, conferences, internship programs, summer schools, lectures, roundtables and workshops on various aspects of Kashmir conflict and the socio-economic development of the State;
(d) Train the scholars, academicians and students on international human rights, international humanitarian Law, conflict resolution, social media and advocacy campaigns and develop the analytical skills of young scholars to enhance their understanding about the conflict and various approached for its peaceful resolution;
(e) Publication of a research journal;
(f) Publication of books, booklets, reports, research’s etc. on Kashmir;
(g) Formulation of policies and strategies for publicity and projection of Kashmir conflict;
(h) Promote ideological basis of Kashmir Liberation struggle;
(i) Develop intellectual discourse on the political history of Jammu & Kashmir;
(j) Promotion of objective research and active advocacy for peaceful resolution of Kashmir conflict;
(k) Prepare research based reports on violations of international Humanitarian Law (IHL) and Human Rights Instruments in IIOJ&K.
(l) To prepare a comprehensive and authentic databank encompassing information on political, historical, cultural, social, economic, literary and liberation movement aspects of Jammu & Kashmir, that can be confidently used by general public, national and international media as well as researches;
(m) Organize workshops for members of Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Government officials on Kashmir cause;
